Exercise – Branding Style Guide

Introduction

A brand style guide is simply the documentation of your brand identity, presented in a format that makes it easy to apply the identity to any content you create. From your logo to your brand voice, it’s a toolkit to help you present a consistent, cohesive brand to the world.

Most brand style guides include the purpose, vision, mission, values, voice, tone, personality and messaging. We will only be focusing on the visual elements of a brand for this assignment, such as: logo, colors, typography, photography, illustrations, etc.

In Canva, you will create a brand style guide for one of the following businesses below. The dimensions must be 8.5 inches x 11 inches in either landscape or portrait orientation. You can have multiple pages of the style guide if needed.

  • Pet Supply
  • Winery
  • Gym
  • Restaurant
  • Ski Resort
  • Radio Station
  • Bridal Dress Shop

In your brand style guide, be sure to include the following:

  • A Primary Logo
  • Submark
  • Minimum of 3 Colors
  • Minimum of 4 Photos or Illustrations / Icons
  • Typography Choices for Heading, Subheading and Paragraph

In Canva, click the Download Arrow Icon and make sure the file type is PDF Print. Select the Download button to save to your computer. The file name should be LastName_Style.pdf

Then submit the file through the Assignments tab on Canvas.
